Mossi and Zhen

Fashion Week ! In one month every body on the blogosphere will be talking only about it. Sharing photos of street style, catwalk, brands party on a boat, brands brunch in a hotel etc..

One month before this "god dam'" week, I wanted to meet Mossi. Young and talentuous fashion designer from the label "Mossi and Zhen".
I've been specially exited by this meeting today, because I know Mossi from school.

Black man with dread locks,  Mossi doesn't look AT ALL like the typical "man fashion designer" (if there is a "typical fashion designer" looks),  but I remember at school I was already amazed by how this guy was into his job and loved it !! maybe even more than every one else in the class. It was a shame when he had to stopped school for some reasons, but I knew that this guy definitely didn't need school to make it in this world. And I was right !! Here he is, passion and work always end up by paying.

Mossi and the hood ! he doesn't like to play that card, but he wrote a book about it with his friends, and about how he discovered fashion by stealing clothes in stores. Today he does not steal anymore, and actually he might be one of the most honest and genuine person in the Paris' fashion crazy world !

I've heard a few times about him, on TV, magazines etc etc... So i thought "alright, here he is ! he made it, that's amazing !" but he told me today "we still didn't made it, it's still hard, we have to look for people, and no one wants to support a new label if we don't sale pieces, but we can't sale pieces if no one support us" it's  a circle, the "evil fashion circle", "before I was naive, but now I know, most of people are only interested in what they can get from you, and I think we manage to do all what we do, without any budget, because we are true, we are honest, and so, our suppliers trust us, and recommend us, so now we work with amazing artisans like pleater etc..."

True, his showroom is full of gorgeous pieces, fabrics with remarkable pleats, lace, or dresses made all of tulle, rolling around "I've first time seen this from a designer who make lingerie, then I've seen it a lot with many other designer, so I wanted to use this technique because I love it. But I was worried and thought maybe I should ask where that come from. I called the designer that I've seen first, and she told me that she created this technique, and she patented it. So I asked if it was possible to use it, and she nicely said yes, without any problems !"

A lot of people has already joined Mossi and Zhen to prepare the next collection, or to help for promotion etc... Fashion world looks glamorous,  the rush and stress of the fashion show bring a part of dream (even if Mossi confessed me that he break a car before every fashion show!), but at the end, the reality of the business, is : It is a business ! fashion isn't art or only a passion anymore. Fashion journalist has the real power in this middle. Anna Wintour support Kany West but doesn't go to the new generation show !! Colette and Maria Luisa sale only famous brand now, when there main purpose at the beginning was to discover new talents

Mossi and Zhen's show is open to public and free, I can't wait to see the next one (and know if he break one more car or not :)).
